Summary: | Cutting transport is an important process in the drilling of oil wells. This process intends to clean the annular hole from cuttings. Cuttings need to be lifted to the surface so that the drill machine can continue moving to the oil well. Cuttings that are stuck and not able to be lifted may cause the drill pipe trapped in the ground. This will endanger the drilling process as kick or blowout cases may result in substantial material losses, damaged drill equipment, and endanger the safety of workers at the drilling sites. This final project discusses the model of cutting transport to determine the required fluid velocity injected to lift the. To determine the factors that influence the process of cutting transport sensivity analysis is conducted. The influence factors tested are the cutting position in the annulus, pressure drop of the wellbore, type of injected fluid, the cutting mass, and the size of the borehole. |
