Summary: | Use of materials at high temperatures requires special attention to changes in mechanical properties and oxidation resistance. At high temperatures, the material

tends to lose its ability to maintain the various properties and advantages as a result of changes in the microstructure of the material. For the purposes of the

application on high temperature, special alloy that can sustain a variety of properties and advantages are used such as nickel-based superalloys in particular.

This research was conducted to study the influence of molybdenum on the microstructure stability and resistance to dissolution of in the alloy 75Ni-10Cr-

15Al due to high temperature oxidation. Alloy is varied in molybdenum content into 3 alloy compositions, alloy 1 (73,66Ni-14,89Al-8,42Cr-3,02Mo), alloy 2 (72,65Ni- 15,35Al-7,97Cr-4,04Mo), alloy 3 (73,51Ni-15,54Al-8,95Cr-2,01Mo) and then made aging process at a pressure of 1 atm at a temperature of 1000 0C with aging time variation of 10, 100, 1000, 10.000 minutes in the oxidative environment. Observations and measurements made to the thickness of the denuded zone that formed, hardness and change in volume fraction of gamma prime precipitates by using optical microscop, Leco Microhardness and Optimas 6.1 analysis.

Some of the results is obtained from the observations such as the increase in aging time is proportional to the increase in thickness of denuded zone and reduce of

hardness after over ageing, the addition of molybdenum alloys lowered resistance to the dissolution of precipitate and hardness on alloy. |
