Summary: | Magnetotelluric method is one of the geophysical methods used to map the subsurface resistivity structure. This method uses natural sources of electromagnetic waves due to interaction of the sun and the lightning activity with the earth magnetic field. Inversion modelling is used to estimate the physical parameters of the subsurface (resistivity) based on magnetotelluric data. 1-D modelling can estimate the resistivity variation with depth at the sounding site, while the 2-D modelling can describe the distribution of resistivity values in the lateral and vertical on the line of measurement. MT measurement performed on Cimandiri fault around Pelabuhan Ratu area. The existence of the fault is important because it is associated with the subduction zone in the South of Java. Based on magnetotelluric data modelling, it can be expected the fault zone in that area is characterized by a conductive zone. |
