Summary: | One of the risks may occur in a laundry is infected by contact dermatitis. Contact dermatitis can be affected by endogenous or exogenous factors. The purpose of this study is to analyze of factors associated with contact dermatitis. Study design had used cross sectional with observational and quantitative analytic approaches which will be described to illustrate the relation of factors that considered to affect the occurrence of contact dermatitis of laundry workers. The object of this study is the population of laundry workers in District Coblong. The minimum quantity of study samples are 62 laundry workers which are selected by random sampling. The method of data collection is questionnaire in which respondents are asked to answer a distributed questionnaire. Next, the respondents will be diagnosed by a dermatologist to inspect respondents‟ physical condition. The diagnosis result will be recorded and documented. A numbers of laundry workers who experience contact dermatitis are 6 (9.5%) people, 2 (33.3%) people of them experienced allergic contact dermatitis while the other people suffer irritant contact dermatitis (66.7%). From the nine factors, which were studied by chi-square test at 95% confidence level, obtained three factors with significant relation to dermatitis contact, they are preexisting atopic with p-value 0,026 and Odd Ratio 10.0 (1.090 - 91.755), frequency of contact with p-value 0.008 and Odd Ratio 15.4 (1.651 - 142.838), concentration of surfactant absorbed with p-value of 0.008 and Odd Ratio 32,697 (1.065-1.776), while the age factor with p-value 0.214 and Odd Ratio 4.5 (0.494 - 40.983) had no significant effected if analyzed separately, but it was analyzed by multivariate. it could affect the occurance of contact dermatitis to laundry workers. Based on logistic regression test, the total concentration of surfactant absorbed was the most dominant predictor variable on the occurence of contact dermatitis to laundry workers (p = 0.025 and the value OR = 16.752). |
