Description
Summary:The deposition of iron ore minerals deposit in Tapaktuan, South Aceh district, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, is alleged as skarn deposit. This skarn deposit was formed due to the plate collision which also estabilished sumatra’s fault. Theoritically, the volcanic formations in Tapaktuan is a potential area for valuable source of magnetite and sulphide. This condition can be seen from iron oxide which was found in the river flow in this area. A total 102 samples were taken from 3 channels using the samples distance on each channel was 1 meter. There were several laboratory analysis that have been conducted in Mineralogy, Microscopy and Geochemistry Laboratory and Hydrogeology and Hydrogeochemistry, Mining Engineering, ITB. Megascopic observation was performed in order to observe the characteristic of minerals with unaided eyes. Petrography and mineragraphy observation were performed to identify the characteristic of minerals microscopically. The study also featured X-Ray Diffraction analysis to verify the result of microscopy observation. The result showed that there were severeal minerals which have been identified as of magnetite, hematite, goethite, quartz, and pyrite. However, from the laboratory observations, there was no indication of skarn minerals. This might be due to the condition of the samples that have been weathered fairly strong.
