Description
Summary:This paper discusses the effect of metal box holes on Partial Discharge

(PD) measurements and detection on electrical equipment that is characterized by

metal enclosed. Methods used in the detection and measurement of PD is an

Ultra-High Frequency (UHF) according to IEC60270. This method utilizes the

energy of electromagnetic waves emitted by the PD source are derived from the

metal box. Advantages of using this method is the ability to detect and measure

without having to turn off the test object (HV equipment).

The sensor used for this test is a loop antenna. This loop antenna is

obtained from previous research where the antenna is designed as indentic as

possible so that it can be used on PD measurement simultaneously.

The PD test is performed with a variety of box holes and loopholes on

metal box. It aims to determine the effect of the existing hole on the metal box. In

addition, testing has been done with variety of voltage and variety of antenna

laying distance. Measurement results are then compared.
