Description
Summary:River is a waterway that can be used as a means of transportation. By passing through river channels, commodities can be distributed without constraints with congestion problems, damaged road infrastructure and air pollution. The inland waterway line is a path-based route that can increase the distribution of commodity volume and reduce the duration of distribution. This final project aims to design the channel of inland waterway channel in Batang Toru River, North Sumatra by changing the existing river condition. The Batang Toru River channel design criteria is tailored to the needs of the vessel going through the river, a 300 DWT Crude Palm Oil (CPO) vessel.. The main criterion in designing inland waterway channels is the depth, width, angle and radius of the canal bend. Based on that, the existing river of Batang Toru does not meet the design criteria so that river is required in the form of river normalization. In addition to adequate the canal design criteria, normalization can cope the floods that occur on the Batang Toru River.
