Description
Summary:Furniture industry activity produce waste in the form of small piece of wood that still has not been utilized optimally. The relatively small size of material makes it difficult to transform into a product. Laser cutting is a technology can be used in manufacturing industries to cut wood materials more quickly, accurately, and does not produce wood chips/dust. Experiments were conducted to find out the characteristics of wood cutting using laser cutting machine with variable such as wood density, wood cross sectional position, cutting speed and engine power. This research generate the design of structural modules by implementating the use of laser cutting machine in processing waste wood furniture industry using Trotec Speedy 300 machine to cut the material. This module has unique characteristic that can be used as rotation and clamp by applying snap-fit connection system that utilizes flexibility of wood so that modules can be arranged into functional products. Zero waste concept was applied in the utilization of the leftover material from laser cutting as component of the product
