Description
Summary:Yogyakarta Province (DIY) is a major tourist destination in Indonesia and it becomes the center of economic and other activities. As the center of economic and government activities, the population of DIY Province and the surrounding cities has been increase. Due to population increase, people and goods movement to and from the Province of DIY becomes higher. Nowdays, the Province of DIY with the surrounding cites is connected with land transportation modes such as roadway and trains. The increased travel demand resulted in higher motor vehicle use which can cause congestion due to limited infrastructure, and on the other side air pollution. Prambanan Ekspres Train (Prameks) is a land transportation mode with large capacity and faster travel time, operating in Solo-Yogyakarta-Kutoarjo line. Currently Prameks Train operates with diesel rail car (KRD), but with the increase of Prameks Train users, the government plans to operate the electric train (KRL) replacing diesel rail car in Yogyakarta-Solo line. KRL operates by using electric power as a driving force.

This study aims to analyze whether the plan of KRL operation in Yogyakarta-Solo line can be accepted/ executed and to analyze response of the Prameks Train users against new tariff alternatives. The method used is Quantitative Analysis and Qualitative Analysis (Descriptive). Quantitative analysis is used to calculate Net Present Value, Benefit Cost Ratio and response of Prameks Train users, whereas qualitative analysis is used to interpret the results of Pramex Train users reponse.

Based on the results of quantitative analysis, it is known that the KRL operation plan in Yogyakarta-Solo line is acceptable (NPV is positive and BCR> 1), while the passenger response of the new tariff is Rp. 8,800.00.
