From 2011 until 2016 number of tourists from Malaysia was the highest in compare to another countries. However, the high interest of Malaysian tourists to visit Bandung is not well recorded in term of data on the sociodemographic profile of tourist, travel characteristics, tourist travel patterns, factors that affect tourist travel pattern, and the problems that faced by the tourist during the journey in the Metropolitan area of Bandung Raya. Research on the movement patterns of travellers is needed for planning and evaluation, especially for the tourism field, infrastructure and transportation. This knowledge and information will be taken into consideration as well as a reference for the development of Metropolitan area of Bandung Raya tourism. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> This research aims are not only to identify the movement patterns of tourist, to analyse tourist attractions point and tourist accommodation by mapping it using GIS software but also to identify the factors that forming the movement patterns using SPPS 16.0 through Crosstabs Chi Square analysis. Another objective of this research is to analyse the problems that faced by Malaysian tourist during the visit in Bandung Metropolitan area. The methods that used in this research is the mix method with concurrent triangulation strategy and accidental sampling technique. Slovin’s formula is being used to count the number of sample with 10% margin error. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The result of the analysis show that Malaysian tourists who is visiting Metropolitan area of Bandung raya is dominated by women in range 26-35 years old and most of them is at least bachelor’s degree. Most Tourist is working as private employee with monthly average income is 4,425 Rm. Based on the purpose of the visit, it is known that 95% for recreation, 2% for working reason, and 3% for other reason. The average length stay of tourists in the metropolitan area of Bandung raya is 3,7 days. 98% of tourists are staying in accommodations in the area of Bandung city while 2% stay at relative´s house. Malaysian tourists are staying at star hotels or jasmine hotels, most of them prefer 3-star hotel which is 45,9% of the number of tourists. During the travel Malaysian tourists prefer to travel with family or friends, only 2% are solo travellers. Average number of vacationers Malaysia is 9,3 people. They gain information about tourist attraction and accommodations from internet. Malaysian tourists prefer travelling with family or friends to their preferred place by renting the car. Travelling that they do mostly is shopping, the two most visited destinations namely Pasar Baru and Rumah Mode. Average tourist spending is 2884,100 Rm. 83% tourists spent for shopping. Malaysian tourist during the tourism activities in the Metropolitan area of Bandung form five movement patterns, namely linear pattern, radial pattern, circular pattern, loops pattern and complex pattern. Most movement pattern that formed by the tourist is complex pattern and the least is linear pattern. Malaysian tourist form the movement patterns based on two factors, expenditure and the number of attractions point, which is the most visited place is Pasar baru. There are several problems faced by Malaysian tourist with the most is traffic jam, especially during holiday time. text |
