Description
Summary:The research area is located in Pucakwangi Subdistrict, Pati Regency, Central Java Province and geographically at 515000-523000 mE and 9237000-9244000 mS (UTM WGS 84 zone 49S) which cover area around 56 km2. The study area is included in Rembang physiographic zone. Geomorphological units in the research area are divided into four units, which are Lumbungmas Homoclinal Hills Unit, Lumbungmas Homoclinal Valley Unit, Mojoagung Homoclinal Hills Unit, and Pucakwangi Denudation Plain Unit. The reaserch area is divided into eight unofficial units from the oldest to the youngest, which are Sandstone-Limestone Unit I, Limestone Unit I, Marl-Limestone Unit, Sandtone-Limestone Unit II, Marl Unit, Limestone Unit II, Claystone Unit, and Alluvial Deposit Unit. Qualitative biostratigraphy of research area divides into seven biozone which is based on first and last appearance of marker species of foraminifera. The geological structure that were found in this research area is anticline fold limb which have fold axial plane located outside the research area in south, with E-W trending anticline. This fold is expected due to the influence of relatively N-S trending compression force. This fold occurs in Pliocene-Pleistocene, at the same time with Plio-Pleistocene uplifting.
