problem when the water reach toward the wellbore, namely water breakthrough. After water breakthrough <br />
<br />
<br />
occurs, water production will increase significantly and make oil production decline. It makes recovery <br />
<br />
<br />
factor low. <br />
<br />
<br />
Polymer can be used to manage water coning to reduce water production. Polymer is used as a barrier in <br />
<br />
<br />
vertical way to prevent water coning. This study applies simulation to investigate the effectiveness of the <br />
<br />
<br />
polymer treatment for increasing recovery factor by preventing the water coning. This study determines the <br />
<br />
<br />
appropriate location and dimension of polymer water shut off. <br />
<br />
<br />
The results of this study show that polymer can be used to prevent water coning for a period time. Recovery <br />
<br />
<br />
factor with polymer treatment is higher than the recovery factor without polymer treatment. The effective <br />
<br />
<br />
treatment requires deep polymer in the formation and dimension of polymer to reduce water coning. The <br />
<br />
<br />
optimum deep of polymer is under the perforation zone and far from water oil contact. The optimum of <br />
<br />
<br />
radius polymer is depend on the polymer depth. |
