Summary: | Surface water is a potential water resource to be polluted, because of the waste disposed into the river, both industrial and domestic waste. Textile industry is the dominating type of industry that disposed waste water to the Cikijing River dan Cimande River, whose waste water contains cadmium, chromium, copper and zinc. This affects water quality, sediment, and organisms living around the rivers. The purpose of this research is to know cadmium, chromium, copper and zinc concentration in water, riverbed sediment, and fish samples from Cikijing River and Cimande River. Camium, chromium, copper and zinc concentration obtained by sample extraction and then measured by Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectroscopy (ICP-MS). In eight sampling points in Cikijing River and one sampling point in Cimande River, chromium concentration in water sample exceeded the standard in Goverment Regulations No. 82/2001, that reached 0,3026 mg/L in Cikijing River and 0,1033 mg/L in Cimande River. Copper concentration in nine points of water samples in Cikijing River and one point in Cimande River reached 0,1169 mg/L and 0,0518 mg/L, which exceeded the standard. Zinc concentration in all of the sampling points exceeded the standard, that reached 0,5051 mg/L in Cikijing River and 2,922 mg/L in Cimande River. Riverbed sediment samples were classified as average polluted, regarding chromium concentration standard in US.EPA Region V in one sample point from Cimande River. Fish sample in one of the sampling points from Cikijing River contains high zinc concentration that reached 19,149 mg/L. |
