Usually, mental retardation happen before someone is 18 years old. There are so many ways to classifiies mental retardation, but usually classified by IQ. There are five groups in classification by IQ, there are mild mental retardation (whose has an IQ between 50-69), medium mental retardation (whose has an IQ between 34-49), severe mental retardation (whose has an IQ between 20-34), and very severe mental retardation (whose has an IQ between under 20). One of so many classifications that become developed y neurophysiology method is by recording the braiwave of mental retardation people. To record the brainwave of mental retardation people, we use electroencephalograph. In this research, the writer researching the brainwave of severe mental retardation kids in SLB-C YPLCC Cipaganti Bandung. The writer use Emotiv to recorded severe mental retardation kids's brainwave. The research was did in 20 minutes that contain 5 minutes closed-eyes, 3 minutes opened- eyes, 5 minutes watched video without audio and 5 minutes watched video with audio and there was resting time in 1 minutes between opened and close eyes and between watched video without audio and watched video with audio. The file that recorded is in EDF file. This file will be processed with EEGLab and SPTool to get spectral data and topography of severe mental retardation kids's brainwave. Data analysis will be done by filtering and spectrum analysis by fast fourier transform. From the research about the influence of stimulan to change pattern of brainwave, shown that audio stimulation is good for increasing relaxation level, focus and processing information level either for normal people or mentally retarded people on temporal lobe. From this research too, visual stimulan that is watching video either with or without audio can increase focus level in majority of mentally retarded people on occipital lobe. For normal sample. This stimulation is good to increasing relaxation level and processing information level. But for stimulus that is watching video with audio, for normal is good too for increasing focus level. text
