Summary:Nowadays, composite pressure vessel technology of LPG has developed rapidly. The LPG pressure vessel has many advantages over the composite gas tube that is not corrosive, lighter, and longer wear life than the steel LPG pressure vessel. Considering the excellence of LPG pressure vessel from composite and supported by the issuance of Presidential Regulation no. 126 Year 2015, composite LPG tube is going to be used to replace the use of steel tubes as fuel for small fishing boats so far. <br /> <br /> Using a 5 kg LPG pressure vessel specification that has been circulating abroad for reference, an initial draft of tubular volume is made. Furthermore, using Abaqus software, simulations of hydrostatic test, volumetric expansion test, burst test, and leak test are performed. If the output of the simulations does not meet the standard quality criteria, optimization will be conducted. <br /> <br /> It is found that the optimal geometry of LPG 5 kg composite pressure vessel that can be made in Indonesia have composite thickness of 7.2 mm and optimum angle [45/-45/45/-45/45/-45] which has 6 layers with each thickness of 1.2 mm. The author hopes that the results of this undergraduate task can be used as well as possible and can help the development of composite technology in Indonesia.
