Description
Summary:Bulky waste is a large waste that comes from households. Bulky waste requires a large space if disposed to landfill, while the landfill capacity is reduced. On the other hand, bulky waste material can be recovered into raw material. Currently, In Indonesia, especially in Bandung, there is no regulation related to bulky waste, so this waste is not uncommonly found in TPS. The purpose of this research is to know bulky waste generation in Bandung and handling of bulky waste. To find bulky waste generation, this research uses the concept of material flow analysis. The results of this study found that bulky wastegenerationin Bandung is 27540 tons/ year, of which 448.39 tons/ year disposed to landfill. The sorting in TPS resulted 161.84 tons of bulky waste / year can be resold to recyclers. In addition to being disposed to landfill and sold, bulky waste is usually stored, shared and burned. Most of the bulky waste composition was WasteElectronic and ElectricalEquipment41.2%, furniture 29.4%, household appliances 11.6% and the rest came from kitchen appliances, garden equipment, carpets and bathroom equipment. In this study found the importance of bulky waste management separately from municipal waste generally included in the determination of retribution fees of bulky waste.
