Indonesia Theses INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/23860 Yvonne A Field is located in the southern part of Sunda Basin that produce oil from carbonate Lower Baturaja Formation. Water injection and further development program require detail analysis through static and dynamic approach. This study is focused on the static reservoir characterization using rock typing analysis. Hence, the main goal to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the petrophysical properties of the reservoir can be achieved by identification of the type, composition and petrophysical rock type (PRT) distribution.

Based on analysis and interpretation of core and petrographic data and also seismic attribute data, carbonate of Lower Baturaja Formation in Yvonne A Field is mostly an isolated carbonate platform with some attached carbonate platform in the northeast, which has organic build-up and shelf lagoon open circulation facies association.

PRT identification is performed by Flow Zone Indicator plot technique with the 58 routine core data. From the plot, five petrophysical rock types appear, each having a very distinct porosity/permeability relationship with a high correlation coefficient. The second stage is petrographic analysis from 30 thin section samples which spread in all PRT. From this analysis, PRT identification is done by observation of pore types, pore sizes and pore associations. The five PRT which were identified are PRT 1 (vuggy-moldic micropore), PRT 2 (vuggy mesopore), PRT 3 (vuggy-moldic meso-macropore), PRT 4 (vuggy-fracture mesopore) and PRT 5 (vuggy-fracture macropore).

The formation of reservoir quality or PRT from the interval study was controlled by diagenetic processes. It could be seen that generally the secondary porosity appears. The study shows that the PRT is not correlated to facies. One PRT appears in several facies. So the diagenetic processes becomes important in reservoir quality or petrophysical rock type development. text
