Description
Summary:Rancaekek district is an industrial area that envolving nowadays since 1979. Industries in Rancaekek district dispose of liquid waste into surface water such as Cikijing and Cimande river. Contamination of water bodies also contaminate rice field for irrigation because the irrigation water comes from the river and also pollute the groundwater contaminating the well water. One of the pollution is heavy metal pollution. Heavy metal with highest concentration were measured in the Cikijing and Cimande river are cadmium, chromium, copper, and zinc. Therefore, that four heavy metal was tested in various sampling points and that samples are water river, sedimen river, fish, rice, rice field water, rice field sedimen, and groundwater during the dry and rainy season. Environmental pollution will also affect the health of people in Rancaekek district. The main objective of this study is to assessment the environmental and health risks from heavy metal pollution such as cadmium, chromium, copper, and zinc on the rivers, rice fields, and wells. The concentration of heavy metals in the river water, sediment, fish, rice fields water, rice fields soil, rice and ground water in the rainy season was relatively higher than in the dry season. The concentration of heavy metals in water river are above the quality standard in a few points. The concentration of heavy metals contained in the groundwater are still below dan upper the quality standard for some points. For the analysis of health risks, the value HI is below one which prove that the dose of heavy metals into the human body does not cause non-carcinogenic effects.
