Summary: | The traditional market is one of the sources of large quantities of waste producers. Sederhana market is a traditional market which is located in Bandung. Every day, the waste from Sederhana market activities collected heading to Sederhana transfer station by six janitor. Besides serving Sederhana market, Sederhana transfer station also serving waste from the settlements in sub district of Pasteur, Bandung. Increasing number of waste generated make the capacity of Sederhana transfer station to accommodate waste from the market is limited. Data on the amount and composition of waste from Sederhana market and transfer station needed to determine the method of handling waste that the most effective thing to do. Therefore,it is necessary to research in order to find out waste generated in the Sederhana transfer station and Sederhana market. The measurement is carried out according to the methods on the SNI 19-3964-1994 by measuring the total weight, volume, and weight of the fraction waste generated by 83 samples of market merchants and 5 waste carts in transfer station for eight days in a row. In addition, it is also distributed questionnaires to find out the response and existing condition of the market waste management. Then, to determine the effectiveness of the janitor’s performance was measured by time motion study. Analysis on peak hour of vehicle is necessary to estimate the ideal amount of the waste carts dump against the wide of the transfer station. From the results of research, obtained weight of the market waste generation is 1.661 ton/day and the volume 10,179.445 l/day. The composition of the waste consists of 39% organic, 30% plastic, 12% paper and cardboard, 9% hazardous waste, 5% other category waste, 4% textile, and 1% metal. Weight of the transfer station waste generation is 7.876 ton/day and the volume 46.044 m3/day. The composition of the waste generation in transfer station consists of 54.25% organic, 12.83% paper and cardboard, 12.01% plastic, 9.22% hazardous waste, 5.93% other category waste, 2.79% glasses, 1.32% textile and 0.72% Styrofoam. Evaluation of the solid waste management system covering the area of organization and management, technical operations, financing aspect and public participation. Proposed solid waste management system development is given based on the evaluation. |
