This project is planned to be located on the Monumen Nasional Park as a nastional hirtorical library. The constructable land within the site is 7050 msq whereas the area of the final design is 11000 msq. The decision of the site in the park can be seen as a symbolic approach that shows governement concern towards litteracy and intellectual development. The spacious site that belongs to the people under government supervision is now used for social purposes, such as library. <br /> <br /> <br /> This era is characterized by a war in information access. This phenomenon called digitalisation cannot be denied anymore. Now people has easy access to information. With this library is striving to become the answer of the 21st century’s user needs that actively respond to technology. Of course the consequence of this tendency influences the size of the room, the function accomodated, and the way people use them. After taking into consideration the limits and the issu wether function wise or site wise, the concept chosen for this particular project is Disappearing Monuments. This concept would answer the simbolic meaning of digitalisation whereas the physical object disappears to become virtual. To aline the project with the concept the library is made subteranean. It also alined to the site constraint that forbids building construction above the ground level.
