Description
Summary:Kolaka Regency is known as an area that produce nickel laterite deposit at East Sulawesi Ophiolite Belt (ESOB). One of ESOB trace is unveiled at study area, Baula District, Kolaka Regency. The study is worked by mapping and analyze ultramafic rock samples to determine ophiolite tectonic environment and identify its ore deposits beside nickel laterite. Petrographic and mineragraphic analysis as main analysis is worked to identify ultramafic rock minerals, ores, mineral paragenesis, and its tectonic environment. Magnetic susceptibiliy and serpentinite urat-urats analysis are also worked to support the main analysis. Based on all analysis, Baula Ophiolite Complex come under dismembered ophiolite formed in Mid Oceanic Ridge (MOR) tectonic environment. Chromite is identified as the abundant ore in the study area with NE–SW distribution, especially in harzburgit
