COMPARISON OF THREE HIGH JUMP TECHNIQUE MODELS
This final project will discuss about mathematical models of high jump sport, especially in comparing three jump techniques. Those techniques that will be compared are Scissor Jump technique, Straddle Jump Technique and Fosbury Flop Technique. In general, equation of parabolic motion will be used as...

Those techniques that will be compared are Scissor Jump technique, Straddle Jump Technique and Fosbury Flop Technique. In general, equation of parabolic motion will be used as the mathematical model. Concept of center of mass will be used in addition to get the comparison between those three jump techniques. The concept of center of mass will contribute in finding the location of the center of mass of the athlete while doing a particular take-off and jump technique.

This final project will also simulate the high jump motion. By using the constructed model, the initial velocity and take-off angle can be obtained while the athlete is jumping. Thus if the athlete is planning to jump with a particular height, then the athlete can determine the jump angle and initial velocity he should do.

Based on the calculation, comparison and analysis which have been done, it can be seen that Fosbury Flop technique with body arc more than 16.73 degree is better than the other two techniques. Besides from using different jump technique, the jump height will also be determined from other factors, which are take-off techniques and the athlete’s height itself. text |
