Climate change is a natural phenomenon that occurs during the development and the main challenges to be faced by the community both today and in the future. Indonesia as a tropical country is inseparable from the phenomenon of climate change, including South Sumatra province which is a research area of this thesis.

According to the data from a research about Climate Risk and Adaptation Assessment of South Sumatera which conducted in 2012, showed that this Province will experience climate change with an increasing trend of El Nino, which causes the increase the extent of drought area.

The drought will impact on many sectors including the agricultural sector, especially plantation sub-sector which is the main supporter of regional income. One of the areas in South Sumatra that rely on a plantation is OKU district. The main commodity in this district is rubber and palm oil plantation.

This research was conducted to explore how the effects of climate change on rubber and palm oil plantations by the qualitative method to find facts about the impact of climate change based on events that occur in the field. The end result of the research conducted in the form of climate change on the risk of palm oil and rubber plantations were assessed on three variables: vulnerability, risk and capacity.
Based on the analysis, it was found that the risk of rubber and palm oil plantations have in common, namely the possibility of a drought caused by reduced rainfall which affects the deficit of water to plants.
