However, previous prototype designs showed problems regarding the clutch system where clutch joints were unable to be released as a result of improper clutch release timing by the driver. Prior test drives also demonstrated an error in the clutch engagement process when a large difference between the relative rotational velocity of the tire and the countershaft was present, resulting in tire slip when clutches were connected. Slight bumping was also found to occur as a result of colliding gear clutches. <br /> <br /> This work focuses on creating a self-disengagement mechanism by modifying the current clutch design furthermore suggests a novel clutch engagement system to be applied in the car prototype design. Preparation was done through reviewing of commonly available clutches followed by structuring a DR&O model of the projected clutch modification. <br /> <br /> Final product was investigated using ANSYS software to measure the ability of the clutch to withstand generated engine load force. A bench press was used to observe the impact of both self-disengagement mechanism and the proposed engagement system on reducing overall vibration in the clutch system. text
