Summary:A civil engineer should have good capabilities to design a structure. A good structural design have to fullfill the requirement of stiffness, strength, and stability <br /> of structure. To meet those requirements,design of structure in every places have their own challenges and one of the interesting things is to build a structure in the earthquake area. Indonesia is a country in the ring of fire area so the earthquake frequency in this area are high. <br /> <br /> This paper talk about design of earthquake resistance building based on architect’s drawing. For making the building become earthquake resistance building, the <br /> structure is designed using dual system which bundle two structural system which is special moment resisting frames (SRPMK) and bearing walls (SDSK).The design process in this paper based on earthquake resistance building code such as SNI 1726:2012, SNI 1727:21013, and SNI 2847:2013. Structural design using this dual system have to use respons modification factor based on SNI 1726:2012. <br /> <br /> Structural element dimensions area design based on structural model in the ETABS v 15.0.0 software. Other than using this software, structural element <br /> reinforcement of shearwall and columns are using CSICol 9, when for slab reinforcement are using SAFE 2014 software. Results from these softwares then have to be checked based on codes. <br /> <br /> Structural check of the model are using dynamic and static equivalent forces. Design of the structure has to hold forces from dead load, super imposed dead load, and live load. Structure is permit to have deflection but can’t be above of the permitted deflection
