Description
Summary:The characteristic of an ionosphere layer of an area is represented by the Total Electron Content (TEC) that contained in ionosphere. Coseismic ionospheric disturbances (CID) are phenomena of fluctuations in TEC values that occur as a result of atmospheric wave propagation in the ionosphere layer generated by earthquake phenomena. This study focuses on CID observations related to one of the major earthquakes in Indonesia, namely the 2005 Nias earthquake (Mw 8.6) that occurred during periods of calm geomagnetic storms. TEC modeling was built based on observational data of 5 Sumatran GPS Array (SUGAR) stations using code data refined with phase data. CID analysis is done based on the magnitude and depth of the earthquake. Based on the results of data processing, TEC that formed on the day of the earthquake has poor data quality. CID in Nias earthquake can not be observed which can be caused by several things, namely data quality, magnitude and the depth of the earthquake. <br />
