The agricultural sector in Indonesia including horticulture is dominantly built by farmers with relatively small-scale business, it called subsisten. Characteristic of horticulture products are fragile and perisable characteristics make that products tend to be less competitive. Low capacity of horticulture farmers as a result of low educational levels requiring additional assets in the form of social capital, that is expected to be able to accelerate the growth of innovation. The presence of social capital seen by participation, cooperation, mutual care, reciprocal relationship, trust and norms of mutual trust behind. With the additional of social capital in a community of farmers, is expected to accelerate the growth of innovation and diffusion of innovation process in horticulture. This study aimed to identify the social capital of farmers in growing innovation and diffusion of innovation at the stage of cultivation and post cultivation horticulture through case study approach and evidentiary research proposition. This research used qualitative approach through in-depth interview techniques for horticultural farmers in Cibodas Village and Cisondari Village. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> This research found that the presence of social capital in a community of horticulture farmers dealing or produce the innovation and diffusion of innovation at the stage of cultivation and post cultivation. The village with the presence of an intact social capital can become a place for diffusion of innovation and more growing innovation than the village which lack the presence of social capital. Important components of social capital in horticulture farming community are participation and trust among farmers.
