Summary:Synthesis of &#945;-Fe2O3/zeolite NaX nanocomposites has been successfully done using microwave methods. The precursor in this research is FeCl3.6H2O and NaOH for &#945;-Fe2O3 synthesis, and zeolite type NAX as zeolite synthesis. In this research, there are variation of calsination temperature in 300oC, 350oC, and 400oC. The redbrown powder of sample was characterized by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM, dan Energy Dispersive X-Ray (EDX). XRD result shows that peaks of crystal is congruent with the reference of zeolit NaX and JCPDS No. 33-0664, so the synthesis process is successfully done. XRD result also shows that the optimum temperature of synthesis &#945;-Fe2O3/zeolite NaX nanocomposite is 350oC and the crystal size is 20.82 nm. SEM result shows that the particle size is 125 nm. EDX result shows that &#945;-Fe2O3/zeolite NaX nanocomposite consist of O, Al, Si, Cl, and Fe atom. After the characterization process, catalytic of sample was tested by aquathermolysis process using autoclave, and it shows that the reduction of heavy <br /> <br /> <br /> oil viscosity is 55.32% for 16 minutes, 70.4% for 2 hours, and 71.28% for 4 hours.
