This plan has been set out in the Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMD) of West Java in 2013-2018 to support the Green West Java Province in 2025 based environment and implementation as well as the <br /> <br /> excavation of science and technology. South Tasikmalaya-Pangandaran area has a wealth of diverse nature and culture as well as having the advantage of geology (geodiversity and geoheritage). This area is also an area of natural tourism has grown and has the availability of adequate infrastructure. But to be recognized geopark region nationally and internationally, geopark area must meet other criteria specified by the Global Geopark Networks (GGN) of UNESCO. A geopark must have clear boundaries and have a wide enough area for economic development; has a geological heritage, biodiversity, and cultural diversity; and activity in it should be based on three important pillars, namely: conservation, education, and geotourism for local economic growth, with the manager, concepts, and management plans to grow and evolve from the local community. To realize the ideals of West Java has the Geopark and also has a new tourism icon and community-based conservation, it would require the development strategy in accordance with the development concept development steps. Strategy development of a tourist destination can be done with the resources analysis aims to determine and identify the main resource of the strengths and weaknesses of the internal environment and the opportunities and challenges of the external environment of the area. The analytical method used is a SWOT analysis which produces strategic factors in the development of the area and the tourism supply <br /> <br /> and demand analysis that examines the basic components of tourism in the region. Development strategy formulation of candidate geopark South Tasikmalaya- <br /> <br /> Pangandaran area as a tourist attraction in West Java Province, performed with two (2) assessment, the assessment of the fulfillment of the criteria geopark region and regional assessment of the tourism component. The end result of this research, which determined the goals and direction of development of the area is based on the concept of regional development candidate geopark and development strategies of candidate geopark South Tasikmalaya-Pangandaran area as a tourist attraction in West Java Province to be recognized nationally and <br /> <br /> internationally. text
