One of the threats which has high occurance frequency, potential adverse impact, but great anticipation opportunity is the risk of falling. One of the factors that affect the risk of falling is external factors that are influenced by living environmental conditions of the elderly. The study about the actual condition of fall risk environmental factors among elderly in Indonesia has not fairly conducted so that the research on this topic is important. The purpose of this research is to reformulate the environmental conditions of the fall risk external factors in accordance with the factual condition in the case study area. Therefore, this study identify fall risk environmental factors in Indonesia through regional case studies, identify of the dominant factors of these factors, compare the result with conditions abroad, and redefined the fall risk external factors. Data were obtained from interviews with 175 elderly aged 65 years old and observations over 134 houses selected through convenience sampling. The respondent's answer about fall and almost fall experience were recorded, rewritten. After that, some keywords were determined from it. These keywords are sorted both with free sorting logic and direct sorting by referring to factors which have been obtained through literature. These groups were then analyzed through distribution analysis to obtain the frequency and through correspondence analysis to show the relationship between factors. As a result, the risk of falling predominant external factors in the study area are factor related to sliping followed by tripping. The factor of handgrip also has close relationship with the almost fell condition so that it can reduce the case number of falling. The factors slip is wetness. Overall, the fall risk environmental factors can be grouped and sorted according to the urgency level as factors related to slips, trips, grip, sight convenience accessibility (reachable storage area and walkways distance), and switch condition from sitting to standing and otherwise. The room with the highest fall frequency in the case study is terrace then followed by bathroom. In the case studies area different form of fall risk environmental factor with abroad studies also found. These findings can be used as a consideration to design elderly residential which can anticipate the fall risk from the environmental conditions. text
