Description
Summary:Each reservoir has unique characterization that can be differentiate in terms of its deposition environment, fluid characteristics, rock characteristics, or its driving mechanism. Because of those, it would get specific technical difficulties field development, unique field performance for each development strategy, and has complexity from economic aspects. It is a common that carbonate reservoir is more difficult to be developed in term of oil reservoir, technically. Carbonate oil reservoir has lower performance compared to sandstone, in term of natural flow. It is caused by rock wettability by oil that resists oil to flow into well bore. Unconnected pores make it worse. Solution gas drive as its driving mechanism makes its recovery factor lower also. In conclusion, carbonate oil reservoir should be developed with best plan to achieve better economic aspects.

In this study, carbonate reservoir was formed by build-up reef activity. It usually forms multilayer reservoir with different characteristics, such as pressure gradient which is different extremely for each layer. The common used method to develop this field using commingle completion. This condition would got some production phenomenons. They are cross flow and back pressure phenomenons. These phenomenons affect lesser oil recovery factor than usual. Reservoir performance is important to be evaluated for each development strategy, by doing simulation. Simulation is implemented by simulator which is integrated with sub-surface and surface, reservoir to flowline. This simulation is done to make sure that oil production activity meets flowline constraints on surface. Surface constraints would affect volume of oil produced from wells head until separator node.

This study found that the lowest deliverability layers would not be produced from wells. Moreover, those layers have abnormal pressure gradient. There is layer which have high deliverability, but small volume of oil in place and has abnormal pressure gradient. It will be produced after the others potential deliverability layers had decreased very low, in that well. This development strategy had been simulated and evaluated based on technic and economic. This development strategy is much recommended to be implemented.
