PRIORITY OF PRESERVATION PROGRAM OF CULTURAL CONSERVATION SITES IN THE REGENCY OF ACEH TAMIANG

The disposition of program priority of cultural conservation sites is essential as a base in determining the action on handling of cultural conservation sites in the Regency of Aceh Tamiang. As the former Kingdom of Tamiang with the background of Malay culture, the Regency of Aceh Tamiang has abundant cultural conservation sites. One of the strategic issues of Aceh Tamiang Regency as stated in the Rencana Tata Ruang Wilayah (RTRW)/Urban Land Use Plan of Aceh Tamiang Regency Year 2012-2032 is socio cultural issue, which is the protection of past cultural conservation sites. Considering the immense number of activity programs to be conducted annually and the limited activity budget to be managed by each Satuan Kerja Perangkat Kabupaten (SKPK)/Regional Government Agency, so the effort of preserving cultural conservtion sites is not able to be conducted at once, but gradually based on priority scale. This research is aimed at preparing preservation program priority of cultural conservation sites in Aceh Tamiang Regency. The type of research used in this study was explorative descriptive while the method of research used was mixed method between qualitative and quantitative research methods. Primary data were obtained from interviews with sources from related institutes in the Regency of Aceh Tamiang, and site observation, while secondary data were obtained from related institutes in the Regency of Aceh Tamiang. Based on the study, three levels of priority were obtained. Priority I with four building sites, Priority II with seven sites consisting of 1 (one) cemetery site, 5 (five) building sites and 1 (one) prehistoric site and priority III with twelve sites consisting of 9 (nine) cemetery sites, 2 (two) building sites and 1 (one) <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> prehistoric site, in which each program consists of one or more activities with different preservation techniques for each site, in the form of protection as well as development. The result of study is very useful in determining priority program to be taken in the handling of cultural preservation sites for the development of historical tourism of the banks of Tamiang River.
