Summary: | Indonesia is an archipelagic country with plentiful natural resources, which are potential for tourism, either on land or in water. To bolster the growth of tourism areas, it is necessary to have supporting facilities such as lodgings and restaurants, either in resort style or in other styles. It takes an appropriate planning to develop a tourism area so that the development of the area does not inflict negative impacts on the environmental sustainability. This may be achieved by studying and considering the conditions and potentials of the planned area. The resort area planning in this study features appropriate design stages process so that the development of the resort area is balanced with the surrounding environmental sustainability and does not inflict negative impacts on the environment. The selected location context for this eco-friendly resort is a island-tourism area, i.e. Saronde Island, where is located on the northern Gorontalo Province, Indonesia. The main potentials of this location is the still-intact natural beauty such as coral reefs and beach forest which are potentials for water tourism. The climatological and topological conditions of this area is very conducive for tourism area planning and water resort, which are still rare in Indonesia especially in the Island of Sulawesi. This eco-friendly concept is putted forward as an effort to conserve the natural environment in a productive tourism area. |
