It is known that the environment and physical upper Citarum is getting worse due to population growth and the conversion of land in the watershed area. Consequently, problems such as floods suspectly influenced by land cover change. Land cover plays an important role in the hydrological cycle that serves as absorbing rainwater and reduce runoff. The surface runoff eventually accumulate into discharge in the upper Citarum. <br />

Assessing the impacts of land cover change on the discharge can be conducted by various methods one of which is with hydrological modeling. The purpose was quantified the impact of land cover change on discharge in upper Citarum. The instrument used was a model STREAM which enable generating value for discharge as a result of the interaction of rainfall-runoff in a catchment area spatially. Land cover maps and land use maps used is the historical (1994-2005), existing land use in 2013, and pola ruang RTRW Cekungan area. The other in STREAM is climate data and DEM (Digital Elevation Model). Climate data is sourced from the CRU (Climate Research Unit). <br />

Modeling results showed that an increase in discharge observed at the outlet discharge. Discharge from model of land cover years 1994-2005, 2013, and pola ruang RTRW Cekungan Bandung area increasing in each year of modeling. This is caused by reducing area of forest while built up area was increased. The area of undeveloped land in the RTRW increased by about 15% of the compared to 2013. Therefore, it is needed some of intervention on plan, do, and control of spatial using in Cekungan Bandung area according to the implications of land cover change on discharge become increased. |
