Summary: | Indonesia is a tropical country with high lightning density. This fact surely can cause failures at installations that have been built. To decrease the faults, there should be lightning protection systems installed. There are two types of lightning protection system used, that are internal protection system and external protection system. External protection system is used to handle direct lightning strokes’ damages. External protection system has three main components, which are air terminal, down conductor, and grounding. There are two types of air terminal used in the world widely, that are early streamer emission (ESE) and conventional rod. This research is aimed to see the ESE installation effectiveness, one of them by doing comparison between the two air terminals against lightning strokes. The lightning strokes are triggered by rocket-wire or so called rocket-triggered lightning so that the lightning strikes to the determined location. |
