Summary: | Block modeling is a tool for evaluating gold-silver mineralization potential at the Cikidang area. Using block modeling the 3D depiction of geometry of mineralization, ore grade distribution and the resources in Cikidang's vein can be obtained. Data in this study were obtained from 57 core drill holes and 10 mining stopes. Statistical analysis and geological interpretation indicated that the data and blocks in the model can be divided into two populations, i.e. vein and non vein. Decile analysis of the data showed that high grade cap was not required. To obtain the same geometrical support, assay data were averaged into 2 m composites. Composite statistics gave mean grades of 12.80 g/t Au and 74.90 g/t Ag. The estimation parameters were obtained from grade variograms and indicator variograms.
Resource modeling in this study utilized multiple indicator kriging (MIK) and pod indicator kriging (PIK) techniques with inverse distance squared (IDS) and ordinary kriging (OK) models for comparation, IDS and OK models used the same estimation parameters for block estimation, which were roughly similar to those of the PIK model. The MIK model used nine discriminators (from 0.45 to 34.50 g/t Au) to obtain PDF at each block The PIK model used a 3 g/t Au discriminator to define the mineralized vein.
Resource tabulation (at cufoffs of 0-10 g/f Au) indicated that the PIK model yielded a figure in between that of the IDS/OK and the MIK models in terms of contained metal. At 10 g/t Au cutoff, the PIK model gave 295,700 tons of ore grading 22.66 g/t Au. The resource classification was done based on the kriging standard deviation and the number of samples used in estimation. Comparison of the resource models indicated that the PIK technique is quite applicable and reliable in modeling the Cikidang gold-silver mineralization.
