Description
Summary:The needs of energy in Indonesia, as a developing country, will continue to grow as the population grow. Currently, non renewable energy source is the most widely-used source of energy in Indonesia. Hydropower is one of the alternative solutions that can be used to convert non renewable energy to renewable.

The objective of this study is to explain about basic design of hydropower which located in Way Ela, Maluku.

The method used in this study is hydrologic calculation, such as precipitation plans, flood discharge plans, and dependable discharge. The result of the hydrological calculation will be used to design the dimension of mini hydropower components. HEC-HMS and Plaxis 2D is used to calculate the result.

According to the result, it can be concluded that there are 4,16 MCM active storage volume that can be used to operate the mini hydopower plan and about 0,86 MW power can be generated with 50% reliability in a year. The dam embankment has safety factor greater then 2, therefore, the dam is safe. The dam has a high economic value with the help of goverment to fund the dam construction fee.
