Failure is often the case in these metals is due to brittle failure. Softening on metal zircalloy-4 required to reduce the brittle failure <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> by changing the metal phase. Phase change of the alpha phase to beta phase is done by heat treatment. Annealing heat treatment performed on zircalloy-4 with a composition of 1.5% Sn, 0.2% Fe, 0.1% Cr, and Zr. Phase in the sample zircalloy-4 before getting the heat <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> treatment is alpha phase. Heat treatment carried out at a temperature of 850oC, 900oC and 950oC. Each heat treatment using 3 samples to be given cooling after <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> being subjected to heat shock for 30 minutes, 60 minutes, and 120 minutes. Zircalloy microstructure-4 will be seen with an optical microscope, the data taken <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> with test vickers hardness, and phase contained examined by XRD. Zircalloy-4 samples are getting heat treatment has a lower hardness of the as received. The higher temperature and longer heat treatment time hardness the <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> lower the sample. At temperatures of 850oC and heat treatment time 30 minutes would seem the beta phase on XRD results. At temperatures of 850oC and 900oC with heat treatment duration of 120 minutes will be visible in the microstructure that the two metals are in the recrystallization process in which there are grains of <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> pure alpha phase between beta phase. At temperatures of 950oC would seem grain growth occurs. text
