Through appropriate heat treatment, residual stress can be eliminated, grain size enlarged or reduced, and improved toughness. Variations heat treatment undertaken include Full Annealing, Normalizing, Hardening, Tempering Phase I (130°C), II (300°C), and III (500°C). Specimen research, AISI H13 steel is heated to a austenitic temperature, were held at that temperature until homogeneous then cooled with a variety of heat treatment applied. Furthermore, the specimen is tested hardness and micro structure inspected to see the effect of the variation of heat treatment on microstructure and hardness. <br /> text |
