This is a study of surfactants development to obtain the best result of oil recovery in the sandstone reservoir that contains high viscosity heavy oil and having oil wet rock-fluid system. <br /> <br /> <br /> This study was conducted by developing difference surfactants composition that had variety of surfactants and co-surfactant volume ratio, then each of developed surfactants was tested using spontaneous imbibition and contact angle measurement. The parameters used as reference to determine the best surfactants are maximum recovery factor and contact angle value. <br /> <br /> <br /> Spontaneous imbibition test was conducted using sandstones artificial core with porosity around 30%, heavy oil sample with API gravity value of 20.088 0API and viscosity value of 176.625 cp. The surfactant type that was tested are anionic and nonionic, in general the nonionic surfactant gives a better performance in this condition, deduced from the higher oil recovery factor and smaller contact angle compared to anionic surfactant. The best oil recovery value is 88%, it was obtained after 1 day soaking period using Y4 surfactants in 2% concentration. text |
