Description
Summary:
Visual Evoked Potential (VEP) is an electrophysiological signals produced by the eye that can be acquired to diagnose early symptomps of blindness caused by eye diseases, such as Glaucoma. In the present days, most eye examination by recording VEP signals are performed using a device that is physically large and consists of many sub-systems, causing only few hospitals are currently able to accommodate VEP examination procedure. This final project is meant to support a new, portable design for VEP examination system. The suggested system is expected to be able to accomodate eye examination procedures similar to the current device that is used in most of national eye hospitals. In order to develop the system, a user interface system is required to control both of electroencephalography (EEG) signal acquisition instrument and stimulus display sub-system.

The user interface sub-system (GUI) was designed by Javascript language, implemented on a device with Android as its operating system. In order to establish connection to other two sub-systems, Bluetooth 2.0 was used as the communication method. The stimulus display was shown to the patient using VR Box and smartphone, the stimulus video itself was set to match the international standard procedures of VEP recording beforehand. The GUI was utilized to receive EEG signal recording results from the signal acquisition instrument and display the recording result in the form of a VEP signal graph. Specifications that were achieved by this design were also tested, Those specifications were communication delay when using Bluetooth 2.0 as the communication method, standard parameters of stimulus display, and functionality of each function inside the GUI. From the results, the GUI for this system has been able to perform the required functions.
