Description
Summary:<p align="justify">One solution to obtain a good road pavement that can sustain heavy traffic loading is to develop a very durable asphalt mixture, like: Stone Matrix Asphalt (SMA). In order to get better SMA mixture, the use of modified asphalt, such as Buton <br /> <br /> <br /> Natural Asphalt (BNA) is recommended. This research used Marshall Test, Gyratory Compactor Test, Resilient Modulus Test used UMATTA and Permanent Deformation Test used Wheel Tracking Machine, in order to achieve that <br /> <br /> objective. <br /> <br /> <br /> The test result shows that the use of BNA Blend 75/25 will decrease the Penetration value from 66,50 (asphalt Pen 60/70) into 55 (BNA Blend 75/25), it can increase also the Softening Point from 50oC into 55oC, then the temperature sustainability and mix durability will also increase. The result of Marshall test shows that the Stability were 627,91 kg (asphalt Pen 60/70) and 657, 65 kg (BNA Blend 75/25). The Marshall test increase the mix Density from 2,260 t/m3 (asphalt Pen 60/70) to 2,288 t/m3 (BNA Blend 75/25), while the Gyratory Compactor test increases also the mix Density from 2,265 t/m3 (asphalt pen 60/70) to 2,288 t/m3 (BNA Blend 75/25). <br /> <br /> <br /> The Resilient Modulus test at temperature 25oC by UMATTA gives the value of 2451 MPa (asphalt Pen 60/70) and 5174 MPa (BNA blend 75/25) using the Gyratory Compactor’s specimen. The comparison of Resilient Modulus measured by UMATTA and calculated by the SHELL’s equation, at temperature of 25oC, were 0,28 (asphalt Pen 60/70) and 0,38 (BNA Blend 75/25) resulted from Marshall test, and 0,41 (asphalt Pen 60/70) and 0,68 (BNA Blend 75/25) resulted from Gyratory Compactor test. This ratio value will increase as the temperature increases from 25oC to 45oC. The Wheel Tracking test give the highest Dynamic Stability for BNA Blend 75/25, that is 5250 T/mm (45oC) and 2863,64 T/mm (60oC). <br /> <br /> <br /> In General the use of BNA Blend 75/25 with Gyratory Compactor will increase the performance of Stone Matrix Asphalt (SMA) Mixture. It is then recommended to use BNA Blend 75/25 combining with the Gyratory Compactor that can increase the performance of Asphalt Mixture.<p align="justify">
