<p align="justify">Pendopo is the front line of Javanese traditional house. It's open facade, monumental and as the centre of the house makes pendopo often used as the gathering place, ceremonial events and also a place for performing arts. Pendopo is often being used as the main identity of Javanese house. Javanese society also makes pendopo as the archetype of social and cultural facility or the government building that accepts people. <br /> <br /> The thesis applied the transformation method for pendopo that take place in the city. The historical context and the Javanese philosophy will be the starting point for transforming pendopo. <br /> <br /> Case study for the thesis is Taman Krida Budaya Malang. It has a large pendopo as the main facility. The result of transformation are two big pendopo that accommodating two main activities. The urban activities that contemporary in it's time and the formal ritual activities. This two pendopo have different shape because of their different activities. The outer pendopo has an informal shape as the result of distortion and analogical method. The inner pendopo has a formal-original shape as the reason for maintaining the historical shape. The social consideration of city space also make this new facility contribute the terrace as a public space. The new Javanese public space that accessible all the time and free to be used for every people in the city are the goal of this transformation method. <p align="justify">
