Description
Summary:Reliable and safe water supply system is a prerequisite for the health, prosperity and security of a nation. Water is the most important natural resource in the needs of human life. Realizing this, the management of water resources needs to be seriously addressed by the government and the community (Dong, 2018). Bandung City development resulted in an increase economic activity and a percentage of built-up areas and land use change in the periurban area, that entered the administration of Bandung District. This situation was not accompanied by an increase in the physical environment, socio-economic conditions and management of infrastructure management from the local government. As a result, many people, especially those living in the periurban area, have not yet obtained piped water connections, both individually and in groups, so that many are built spontaneously by local community with substandard conditions. Complex infrastructure systems lead to different needs and characteristics of clean infrastructure services in peri urban areas, so that exploration of understanding the characteristics of clean water infratrucutre is needed to be able to approach strategically in managing urban peri-urban areas. Based on the research problem, this research was conducted with the aim of identifying typologies of clean water infrastructure systems based on the characteristics of the Bandung Metropolitan Urban Area.

This study uses a case study qualitative approach with content analysis method, descriptive and spatial. Typology formulation is based on the suitability of empirical conditions with the criteria of physical aspects and institutional aspects that have been formulated in accordance with literature studies. The results of this typology are 7 kinds of clean water infrastructure systems that are formed to meet the needs of clean water in Margahayu Tengah Village both formally and informally. Spatial analysis is used to see the distribution of each typology with its territory. Each typology has different characteristics and problems so that the complexity of clean water infrastructure systems can be identified as the first step in handling problems related to clean water infrastructure systems.

.

Keywords: typology, clean water infrastrucutre system, periurban areas, managing infrastructure complexity
