Summary: | Online business sector and e-commerce in Indonesia are growing rapidly and thus

provides opportunities for the development of logistics service provider companies.

Company X tries to get into this business with their unique way of delivering. It's by

utilizing the luggage of airplanes or trains passenger (traveller) that are not used and in

return Company X gives some rewards to them. Company X has a guarantee that the

goods will arrive in less than 24 hours. However, with the current system used by

Company X in delivering goods, there is a possibility that thet couldn't fulfill the

guarantee. The company must also return 100% of the costs that has been paid by the

customer if this happens. At present, the total cost that must be incurred by Company

X is around Rp 65,591,482 per month. To overcome the problem, the simulation method

is used because of the complexity of the real system that making it difficult to evaluate

system analytically. The system said to be complex because of the dynamics and

uncertainty that can occur in the system. Some of these are the dynamics of the order

time from customer, different order destinations, the number of flight schedules

available, etc.

There are two alternatives that were designed in this study. In the first alternative, items

that are not possible to arrive within 24 hours will be shipped air cargo. While on the

second alternative, the goods will be delivered to Soekarno Hatta International Airport

(Jakarta) first and then the system will search for traveller who will go to the destination

of the goods. Based on the simulation performed, it can be concluded that Alternative

1 is the best alternative for Company X because it requires a lower operating cost, which

is around Rp 45.156.742 per month and the amount of goods that arrive with more than

24 hours is only about 9 items per month. |
