Summary:PT Lagagenis Insuko is one of the private company in Indonesia with the main business in <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> buildings and civil construction, buildings renovation, goods procurement, and other <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> architectural services. Currently, PT Lagagenis Insuko is undertaking one project namely <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> construction of building for the Faculty of Economics and Management Institut Pertanian <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Bogor Building in Dramaga, Bogor. Previously, PT Lagagenis Insuko was delayed in <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> completing the construction of Education Support Facility Building 2017 at Jakarta State <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> University and this made the company suffered losses. Fine payments are done because the <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> real duration of this project has exceeded the planned duration. Beside this, payments for <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> additional resources were also incurred because there was construction reworks for one part <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> of the building due to dimension and elevation error. Therefore, a more effective and <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> accurate scheduling process is needed, so it can avoid reworking on projects that can cause <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> losses to the company. It can be done by identifying the right information flow and <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> identifying activities that can be carried out in parallel in this project. The S curve and <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> critical path method (CPM) is a traditional method in project scheduling but it does not <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> accommodate information flow mapping and activities that can be done in parallel. There <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> is one method that has been developed to solved it. It can be used to describe the flow of <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> information in a project, namely the structure matrix (DSM) method and will be applied in <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> the scheduling process of the building project of FEM IPB Building. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The scheduling of this construction project is done by using two methods namely CPM and <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> DSM which will be followed by natural overlap method. The first step is to make a work <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> breakdown structure of the project. Furthermore, the relationship identification, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> communication time, time factor between work packages will be identified. After these <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> identification, a DSM matrix will be formed which maps the entire flow of information that <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> occurs in the project. From the calculation process in the data processing, it is obtained <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> three estimates of the total duration of the project, which are generated by the two methods <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> used, namely the estimation of the CPM, DSM results, and the advanced natural overlap <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> method. Using CPM method, it is estimated that the project will be completed within 216 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> days, while with the DSM method, the project will be completed within 275 days, anda <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> duration of 184 days using the advanced natural overlap method. Both of methods show <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> that DSM method make some changes in the work packages duration in the building project <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> of FEM Building IPB. This duration change occurs because of the addition of <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> communication time and time factor for each work package in the duration calculation. The <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> results also show that the use of the DSM method and the advanced natural overlap method <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> provides better scheduling results compared to traditional CPM methods. This is showed <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> by a shorter total duration time and the flow of information and paralel activities are wellmapped <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> in the FEM IPB construction project.
