Water flooding and surfactant flooding are two kinds of EOR method and able to be implemented in thin reservoir with horizontal well. The using of horizontal well is to get higher oil recovery factor. The advantageous use of horizontal well is resulting on bigger production drainage and injection sweep than vertical well. In order to gain optimum production with good economical value, it must be planned well.

In this study, the horizontal well for both water and surfactant injection is located between horizontal wells for production with symmetric distance. The reservoir model is created by a petroleum software, Eclipse, with black oil fluid type. This study simulates water flooding and surfactant flooding performance by optimizing surfactant of its concentration, volume injection, and time injection sensitivity as well as analyzing sensitivity of rock wettability. It shows that high oil recovery factor can be obtained by using water flooding and higher oil recovery factor by using surfactant flooding in horizontal well of thin reservoir. text
