Summary: | Education in the field of visual communication design (VCD) in Indonesia is currently growing rapidly. Evidently based on sources from datapokok.ditpsmk.net, the number of vocational schools that have expertise in VCD has reached 3,439 schools. This has the effect of expanding the scope of the VCD to other areas, one of which is in the Tegal city. The high public interest in the Tegal city in the field of VCD can be seen from the need for labor related to the profession of high VCD fields. However, there are a number of problems that arise, namely not many higher education institutions in the Tegal city and surrounding areas that provide human resources for the needs of the creative industry and the VCD field. Meanwhile, when viewed from vocational education in the VCD field in Tegal, each year gives graduates as many as 650 students. But in fulfilling the needs of the profession, the outcomes of vocational graduates are limited to technical personnel as assistants or operators. A higher level of education is required that has the technical ability to provide competencies better than vocational schools that can help meet the needs of the VCD profession in the creative industry in the Tegal city. This study uses a skinative approach with mapping methods, Spradley ethnography and SWOT analysis, which aims to identify various factors and explore the potential to map the spread of creative industries in the VCD in the Tegal city. So that obtained a link and match between industrial and professional activities in accordance with the level of education, which is then used as the basis for planning VCD education programs in the Tega city in providing strategic recommendations on VCD higher education programs including the proposed level of education, field of concentration, output of graduates, achievements and learning methods, as well as the proposed courses that will be opened in accordance with the criteria required today. The urgency of the existence of VCD higher education is considered to be able to help in meeting the needs of the profession in the VCD, the outcome of which can occupy strategic positions in relevant industries and companies related to the VCD field and can be an engine of economic driving and improve the edit value of a design. |
