Currently, the most widely used tool for cooking is LPG based stove. LPG based stove is an unrenewable energy, therefore it will not be sustainable in the future. One of the most popular alternative energy that can provide the same function is solar energy. Indonesia global position is in the equator so it has great potential for the use of alternative energy from the sun. In this research, a solar stove will be designed so it can be energy efficient, cheap, and user friendly espescially for people in remote area. This solar stove will also be used to produce electricity with the help of solar panel.

The experiment will start from measuring the intensity of the sun, as a basis for consideration of time of use of the stove and also energy storage. The next stage is the design of the stove and followed by water heating experiment with the solar stove. The next stage will be using this solar stove as a reflector for solar panel to produce electricity. The energy produced by electricity will be compared to the energy produced by water heating experiment.

Variations to be performed are cooking media, and the position of the solar panel and solar stove. This variation is intended to find the most appropriate combination for the most ideal stove and can be used by all people in remote areas.

According to the data, solar stove efficiency reached to 76.7% with teflon as a heating media. This solar stove can heat water to 91oC in 24 minutes. Solar stove can eliminate the operating cost of cooking compared to LPG. Besides, this hybrid of solar stove and solar panel can save electricity cost up to 6 %. Solar stove used as a reflector will affect more significant at a low sun intensity. This solar stove is recommended to be used in NTT, Papua, and NTB.
text
