Description
Summary:Kelapa Kampit, East Belitung District, Bangka Belitung Province, is located in the eastern zone of granite of Southeast Asian Tin Belt which is very potential for the formation of tin ore deposits with associated minerals. Open pit Nam Salu or known as bedding-plane Kelapa Kampit is the richest strata-bound tin mineralizations in Southeast Asian. This area has geologic complexity and base metal prospect which is enough to attract the attention of geologist. Its steeply deeping and semicontinuous bedding that can be clearly characterized with iron mineral content. Metasediment, metasiltstone, phyllite, and chert are the main type rock in Kelapa Kampit. This area has same mineralization with greisen and skarn deposits. Metodology in this research is study of literature, megascopic analysis, microscopic analysis (mineragraphy and petrography), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), and Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). Seven samples of rock chip have been collected from Kelapa Kampit and its surroundings. Five samples are metasandstones and the orther are chert and claystone. Microscopic analysis is performed for 5 polish sections of metasandstone (mineragraphy) and for 5 thin sections od metasandstone, chert, and claystone (petrography). Ore minerals carrying base metal (Cu, Pb, Zn, Sn) are cassiterite (SnO2), chalcopyrite (CuFeS2), sphalerite (ZnS), dan galena (PbS). Other ore minerals in this samples are pyrite (FeS2), magnetite (Fe2O3), and hematite (Fe3O4). That sulfide and oxide minerals are mineralized in the vein-stockworks with open-space filling texture. Other than that, quartz and muscovite are the most rock forming minerals in this rock. In qualitative analysis of XRD, it’s identified mineral associations and minor minerals as greisen characterizer. Based on AAS analysis, base metal content that is close to average minimum exploitable grade is Cu (45% of average minimum) and Pb (12,5% of average minimum). The aim of this research is for knowing the geological order, mineralogi and mineralization, also identifying the availability potential of ore minerals especially base metal.
